Perfect Corp.'s 8th Global Beauty & Fashion Tech Forum Puts AI's Real-World Business Impact in Focus

Perfect Corp.'s 8th Global Beauty & Fashion Tech Forum Puts AI's Real-World Business Impact in Focus

Held on September 28 at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) and hosted in partnership with FIT’s School of Graduate Studies and CEW (Cosmetic Executive Women), the Forum welcomed executives, founders, investors, students and creative professionals for discussions spanning AI-powered retail, personalization, intelligent commerce, AI agents and entrepreneurship.

“AI is moving quickly from experimentation to meaningful implementation, and this year’s Forum showed just how much opportunity lies ahead,” said Alice Chang, Founder and CEO of Perfect Corp. “Across beauty and fashion, the most impactful applications of AI are those that solve real consumer needs, create more personalized experiences and give businesses of all sizes new ways to innovate and grow.

”At FIT’s Graduate School, we recognize the importance of students being able to balance creativity and innovation with advances in technology and productive ways to apply AI” said Dr. Brooke Carlson, Interim Dean, School of Graduate Studies. “Our students are meeting this challenge and incorporating technologies to advance their creative and business endeavors.”

Key Takeaways from the Forum

  • Consumers are increasingly turning to technology for beauty guidance.
70% of beauty consumers already use or are interested in using AI to guide their beauty routines. Beyond helping consumers decide what to buy, these tools can provide more personalized guidance and help people get greater value from products they already own.
  • The focus is shifting from experimentation to practical business impact.
For beauty and fashion brands, the opportunity is to apply AI where it solves genuine customer needs and makes experiences easier, faster, or more useful. The most effective applications start with a clear consumer problem, while still providing access to human support when customers prefer it.
  • Advanced technology is becoming more accessible.
APIs, intelligent agents, and increasingly accessible tools are lowering the barriers for businesses looking to develop new digital experiences. Companies no longer need to build every capability from the ground up, creating opportunities to innovate and bring new ideas to market more efficiently.
  • Entrepreneurs have more room to experiment and create.
Accessible technology is giving beauty and fashion founders new ways to test ideas, develop products, and turn a distinctive creative vision into a viable business. The discussion explored how emerging brands can use these tools not simply to move faster, but to create experiences that stand out.
  • Shopping is moving from search toward conversation.
AI-powered shopping assistants can understand the context behind a consumer’s needs rather than relying on keywords alone, making discovery, recommendations and product evaluation more conversational. As this shift accelerates, brands will need clear, comprehensive product information, including benefits, ingredients and supporting evidence, that AI systems can interpret and use.

Bringing the Work of Emerging Designers to Life with Generative AI

The Forum also brought AI-powered fashion to life through an immersive activation featuring designs from FIT graduates, emerging designers and alums from FIT’s MFA in Fashion Design, Clara Son, Project Runway's Bryan Barrientos, and Genevieve Li. Attendees could experience the looks in person and then explore them digitally through Perfect Corp.'s Generative AI Fashion Virtual Try-On technology, demonstrating how generative AI can open new possibilities for fashion discovery, visualization and engagement.

Partners and exhibitors including FIT’s School of Graduate Studies, CEW, PIMS, Kabob, Enlightened LED, Color Street, Insperity, NunoX and Sorcea also contributed to the Forum.
